You gotta swim Swim for your life Swim for the music That saves you When you're not so sure you'll survive
I didn't see the faith coming, I couldn't feel it, sense it, know it. I will never know why.
I walked close to his feet. Following him down the cement drive way, he told me we were going for a ride. Prancing down the drive way I stood at his car awaiting the opening of the door. My tags jingling and I ran. sitting in the front seat, not noticing the strange look on his face. Something was wrong, but being to excited for the ride I didn't take notice, notice that I would soon end up like the others.
You gotta swim Swim when it hurts The whole world is watching You haven't come this far To fall off the earth The current will pull you Away from your love Just keep your head above
Pulling into the ever so familiar parking lot my tail thumped as I glanced at my master, looking for the big smile on his face, the gleam of his white fangs. But what I thought was upon his face was not there but rather a frown, a stern face. My tail stopping and glancing out the window to see a dog tied to a pole, no master there for him, no love, no affection, nothing to love.
I found a tidal wave Begging to tear down the dawn Memories like bullets They fire at me from a gun Cracking the armor yeah I swim for brighter days Despite the absence of sun Choking on salt water I'm not giving in, I swim
I always wondered about these dogs, I wondered why were they in depression, and where was their love in life. What did they wake up every morning to? A life of hate and depression? How can you survive in such a harsh world? But for all I knew I was going to find out all the answers to my questions. My black nose pressed up against the glance watching the dog.
You gotta swim For nights that won't end Swim for your families Your lovers your sisters And brothers and friends
Looking back at him he grabbed my leash, hopping, following him out the door. We walked side by side to a gate, the gate leading to the large fenced area containing the dog park. Fog was settled across the area, the day was early, birds were singing as he unhooked my leash and threw the Frisbee. I ran catching it perfectly in the air. Bringing it balck, a big goofy smile on my face.
Yeah you gotta swim For wars without cause Swim for the lost politicians Who don't see their greed is a flaw The currents will pull us Away from our love Just keep your head above
This went on for a few hours, and the fog soon melting away revealing the start of a hot day. You tongue lolling out of your mouth as you glanced up at him. Walking out of the park, as if life could go on forever, walking to the side of the park, where hills rolled, and fields grew, and no boundaries were made. Slipping your collar of your neck he threw the frisbee far, you ran after it chasing it far, catching it, and running back to return to nobody.
I found a tidal wave Begging to tear down the dawn Memories like bullets They fire at me from a gun Cracking the armor now I swim for brighter days Despite the absence of sun Choking on salt water I'm not giving in I'm not giving in, I swim
Nobody to love, nothing left in your life. You stood in the grass looking for him hiding, to hear your name called. But nothing seemed to change. You sat waiting for days. No food. No water. No love. Your a stray now, nothing can change. This is it.
You gotta swim Swim in the dark There's no shame in drifting Feel the tide shifting away from the spark Yeah you gotta swim Don't let yourself sink Just find the horizon I promise you it's not as far as you think The currents will drag us away from our love Just keep your head above Just keep your head above Swim Just keep your head above Swim, swim Just keep your head above Swim
